Learn the Ropes and Get Started with Kubatons

The Kuboton is not your typical nor the most powerful self-defense weapon. However, it was designed to be used against bones, soft tissue and nerve points and it can be very powerful. It is effective because of the temporary paralysis or extreme pain it causes. Even for those without experience in a martial art, the Kubaton provides an inexpensive and easy-to-learn method of self defense. Comes with key ring so you can attach to your regular key-chain. As you can judge by yourself these items are very light and extremely affordable. Using one, however, is an entirely different story since Kubatons are designed for advanced martial art students. We can divide these Kubatons into two groups:

For good measure, we will also include the Mace Pepper Spray Kubaton into this article since a lot of people will probably love to have a Kubaton/Pepper spray unit as a two-in-one. This can be a very powerful combo if you already know some martial art moves. The pepper spray itself will allow you to defend yourself by disabling attackers from a distance, while you can your technique to fight against those who come to close.

The most basic applications involve striking or poking vulnerable areas of the body with the Kubaton. Generally speaking, swinging strikes work better against bony surfaces while fleshy areas are more susceptible to pokes and jabs with the ends of the Kubaton. With this concept in mind, a person avoids the confusion and frustration of trying to remember specific strikes for specific targets. Instead, one simply remembers to strike bones and poke soft tissue and pressure points.

There is no wrong strike. Just hit as hard as you can the closest body part. The strike does not have to be perfect. Since nerves are close to the surface of most bony parts, even a glancing blow will inflict enough pain to make your assailant think twice about continuing his attack.
