10 Powerful Pepper Spray Effects That Will Keep You Safe

There are many versions and takes on the original pepper spray formula, but the end result is usually the same. After all, all of those unique pepper spray products in our store still serve the same purpose. We often write reviews and showcase their individuals pros and cons, but today we won't be doing that. In fact, today's article is a bit more broad and general and we will be talking about how pepper spray keeps us safe. As the title suggests, we will do this by explaining the 10 powerful pepper spray effects that are caused by OC pepper formulas. So, ready to get started?

pepper spray effects explained

  1. OC Pepper will cause swelling of the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and throat. If you know what an asthma attack is like then you may have a grasp of what it feels like to be pepper-sprayed. Of course, pepper spray is not lethal and not nearly as dangerous; however, it is rather painful.
  2. Nasal and sinus discharge.
  3. Coughing - this is often regarded as one of the more frightening aspects of the experience. The whole process can be rather scary and cause a lot of fear and panic. The effect also means that the attacker will have to struggle with breathing which provides you with a better chance to get to a safe location.
  4. Shortness of breath - pretty much in line with number 3
  5. Drying of the eyes
  6. Involuntary eye closure - probably one of the most important effects of pepper spray. You see, even if the target was able to resist the pain and stay calm despite having breathing difficulties, they would still be handicapped by this side-effects. Even if the subject cannot feel pain due to drugs, alcohol or being emotionally disturbed, the inflammatory effects of pepper spray cause the eyes to close temporarily when the ocular area is saturated.
  7. Painful burning of the skin - this pain is also a lot greater than you may realize as it is applied to the fact.
  8. Analgesic effects - sometimes the OC pepper may be so strong that some areas of the body may actually go completely numb. While this is not a desired effect as it provides an advantage to the target (less pain) it isn't common or potent enough to make a difference. As we said, effect number 6 always has you covered!
  9. Hyperventilation and potential increase in blood pressure
  10. Various psychological effects such as fear, anxiety and panic. Usually, effects number 3, 6, 9 and 10 have a very strong "partnership" and they heavily increase the potency of each other.
However, we urge you to remember that pepper spray effects are temporary and that they can last as long as 30 minutes or as low as 5 or less. Nonetheless, if you keep calm this is enough time for you to move away from the attacker and get to safe place. Once safe, contact your local authorities as well as a close family member or friend.
